Data Challenge Submissions

Reviewing submissions in Data Challenges is done by accessing and reviewing the submission workspaces created by participants, rather than through a separate file upload process. Here are the key things to know about how submissions work:

Evaluators and Admins Can View and Execute Workspaces

Users with the Evaluator or Admin role can access participant workspaces directly through the challenge's Teams tab. From there, they can open and run the notebooks or code within each workspace to review and score the submitted work in its original environment.

To review a submission

1. Open the Data Challenge.
2. Go to the Teams tab.
3. Select the workspace belonging to the team you plan to evaluate.
4. Open the workspace and launch JupyterHub, following any instructions provided by the team.

Submissions Are Not Stored Separately

Wildfire Commons does not currently provide a dedicated storage space to host or archive submissions. Instead, a participant's submission lives in their workspace, and that workspace is the submission.

Participants Can Download Files for External Submission

If a challenge requires submitting files externally (such as to a shared drive, form, or separate platform) participants can download the relevant files directly from their JupyterHub server and submit them through the required external channel.
